Pearce & Pearce Student Health Insurance

The Georgia Board of Regents (GBOR) does offer student health insurance for eligible students and their dependent. The current carrier for the student health insurance is Pearce & Pearce Ins (P&P). There are 2 groups of students for the P&P insurance: Mandatory and Voluntary. Mandatory students are required by the GBOR to have the P&P insurance and the charge for the P&P insurance is applied automatically to the student's tuition.

Mandatory Graduates:Mandatory Undergraduates:
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Research Assistant
  • F1 or J1 visa holder
  • Fellowship
  • Full tuition waiver
  • F1 or J1 visa holder

Students who are not mandatory (grad or undergrad) may go to the P&P website and apply online for the Voluntary policy. Additional information regarding Mandatory students is located on the P&P website (see link below).

Mandatory students who already have non-P&P health insurance may enroll for a waiver to waive the P&P insurance coverage. To waive the P&P insurance, students must go online to the P&P website and fill out the waiver. P&P will then verify the alternate coverage and contact the student directly regarding the approval. The waiver process must be done each Fall Semester and renewed for each Spring/Summer Semester. Mandatory and Voluntary students must go to the P&P website and add their spouse/dependents through the online enrollment. There is a 30 day open enrollment period at the start of each semester to enroll for the student insurance coverage to enroll for the voluntary plan or for mandatory students to add spouse/domestic partner/dependents.

For students and spouses/domestic partners with the P&P insurance, SHS is the primary care provider. SHS renders care to eligible students and spouses (please see health fee information). Dependent children are not eligible to be treated at SHS.

For additional information on the P&P Insurance, please call 1.888.622.6001 or go to: www.studentinsurance.com and type in Georgia Tech to get to the GT information page with Pearce & Pearce Ins.

Private Health Insurance (Non-P&P Ins)

For other/outside health insurance: SHS (Stamps Health Services) is not a part of any Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) or Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) groups.

Stamps Health Services accepts the Georgia Tech-issued student insurance but not private insurance plans. Regardless of coverage, payment is due when services are rendered.  To verify if your insurance company recognizes SHS as a rendering provider, please call the customer service number on your insurance card. Not all insurance plans from out of state cover medical charges in Georgia.

Stamps Health Services does not file insurance claims at this time, so payment must be made in full when services are rendered. Stamps Health’s Patient Financial Services will assist students in filing for reimbursement upon request.
