In
the event of an emergent situation (including those in which a person is
feeling out of control, unable to care for him/herself, or having serious
thoughts of harming self or others), call Campus Police if on campus (404-894-2500),
call 911 if off campus, or go to your nearest emergency room. If you have
urgent concerns, but are not sure whether you need to go to an emergency room,
call the Georgia Tech Counseling
Center’s 24-Hour Crisis
Consultation line at 404-894-2575. The therapist on call will be able to assist
you and if necessary, can refer you to an appropriate emergency room. For
example, Grady Memorial
Hospital provides psychiatric care 24
hours a day, 7 days a week in its Psychiatric Emergency Room (404-616-4762)
located at 80 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive
in Atlanta. The
Ridgeview Institute also provides emergency evaluations, twenty-four hours a
day, seven days a week. You can make an appointment for an evaluation at
Ridgeview by calling: 770-434-4567.
