The student health fee provides for the cost of many of our medications, however, some medications may incur fees that are competitive to retail prices. Short-term use antibiotics, 4 cold self-care items/semester (OTC), 2 diarrhea/GI upset items/semester (OTC), 1 allergy item/semester (OTC), 1 yeast infection treatment/semester (OTC) and those prescription items designated as one per semester will be covered in the health fee. Any additional medication beyond the free medications will have a small charge.
Some allergy medications are included in the health fee. Generic Claritin is free once per semester, after the initial free round of medication, a fee will be incurred. Also prescription Allegra and Zyrtec are provided. We allow 14 tablets free per semester for each of these items. If used more than once per semester, a fee will be incurred.
Certain medications filled that were written by outside doctors are covered in the health fee as well. Special order medicines are not included in the health fee, and patients are required to pay the full price. Birth control medications, anti-depressant medications, acne medications, travel medications, special order medications, and medications used on a regular basis are not included in the health fee, and they will all incur a health fee. Patients will receive free counseling on all medications from the pharmacy staff. |
